Rules and Eligibility Guidelines

  1. Applicants must be a Stark County 4-H member for a minimum of two years and a currently graduating high school senior.
  2. Applicants must be working towards obtaining:
    1. an undergraduate degree related to agriculture
    2. an undergraduate degree regardless of field of study;
      1. Both to an accredited college or university.
      2. Each scholarship will total $500 with a maximum of two scholarships given per year.
  3. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 to apply.
  4. One copy of each must be submitted with the application:
    1. High school transcripts (if not able to obtain them during the summer please call Tom and Vickie) and
    2. Two letters of recommendation from responsible community leaders – NOT to be related to the applicant.
  5. Scholarship selections will be presented at the Jr. Fair Beef Auction on Saturday night of the Stark County Fair. Attendance is not required but would be very highly appreciated.
  6. You may add additional information to the application that will help us with our selection of the recipients of the scholarships.

Help American Red Cross Find Young Leaders

Make an impact on students in your community. We need your help to spread the word to high school and college students about a great leadership program. Leaders Save Lives is an opportunity for students to help save lives with the American Red Cross. Students may also become eligible to win a scholarship^ and earn an Amazon.com Gift Card.

Here’s how students can get involved.  Check out Leaders Save Lives and sign up to host a summer blood drive.  Recruit friends and family to give blood.  Feel great about the accomplishment of helping save lives with the American Red Cross!  Encourage the students you know to sign up to host a Leaders Save Lives blood drive during summer break. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS DUE FEB. 28

OAC is offering up to six $1,500 scholarships to assist students pursuing agricultural-related studies and to help promote agriculture and agri-business as a growing field of career opportunities.

Scholarships are selected based on academic record, leadership qualities, community involvement and responses to application essay questions.  Applicants will be reviewed and selected by a committee of individuals who are active members of the Ohio Agricultural Council.

Farm Credit Mid-America – College Scholarships

Hello 4-H and FFA Advisors …

I wanted to make you aware that Farm Credit Mid-America is taking applications for scholarships from now through the end of January.

Each year, we award more than 60 $1,000 scholarships to college students who are studying agriculture or finance and attending technical or four-year colleges. The application is open to children or grandchildren of Farm Credit customers.

Jim Cluff Memorial Starter Flock Award

The Ohio Cheviot Breeders Association (OCBA) is seeking applicants for the Jim Cluff Memorial Starter Flock Award.

The OCBA started the contest in 1994 to award a starter flock to an Ohio youth of up to 17 years of age. The purpose of the award is to introduce the youth to the enjoyment of raising and owning a purebred Cheviot sheep, as well as encouraging the growth of new Cheviot breeders in Ohio.

The contest winner will receive the following: a one year membership in the (OCBA), one bred ewe the first year, one ram the second year and in the third year the youth will donate a lamb to continue the award.

Ohio EPA Scholarship Opportunity for Current College Students

The Ohio Academy of Science

 

Dear David Crawford 

 

As a member of the Ohio Academy of Science, we know that you are as committed as we are to encourage young scientists who are headed towards careers in environmental science and environmental engineering in Ohio.
As such, we would ask that you help spread the word to students at Ohio State University about a scholarship opportunity that we offer in conjunction with the Ohio EPA.

 

This merit-based, non-renewable scholarship is available to students who have an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and can provide letters of recommendation as well as evidence of career motivation. Up to $2,500 is
available for students entering their final year in four-year and five-year programs. Up to $1,250 is available to second year students in two year degree programs at public or private technical and community colleges in Ohio.

 

Previously, these scholarships have been awarded to students majoring in:

  • environmental science 
  • biology 
  • botany 
  • chemistry 
  • chemical, civil and environmental engineering 
  • environmental health and safety 
  • forestry 
  • geology
  • laboratory sciences

2012 Cattlemen’s Association Scholarships

Each year the Stark County Cattlemen’s Association awards three (3) $1000 scholarships to individuals who have excelled in the beef industry and plan to pursue a post high school education in food, agriculture, or environmental sciences.

The Stark Co. Cattlemen’s Association is now taking applications for their 2012 Stark Co. College Scholarship awards. Awards will be given in two categories:

Distinguished Youth Beef Awards – An award of $1,000 each to two (2) individuals who have excelled in the beef industry and plan to pursue a post high school education in any field of study.

Post Graduate Scholarship – An award of $1,000, given to one (1) Stark Co. student taking advanced studies (Masters, PhD., or Dr. of Veterinary Medicine ) in food, agriculture, or environmental sciences.

Application for each of these scholarships is open to any Stark County youth who has exhibited a Beef related project (Market Steer, Beef Breeding, Beef and/or Dairy Beef Feeder, Veal) for a minimum of 3 years at the Stark County Fair.
