4-H Invitation to National Pygmy Goat Show – Wayne County Fairgrounds

4-H Invitation to National Pygmy Goat Show

June 15-17, 2018 at the Wayne County Fairgrounds in Wooster, Ohio.   Click here for more information.

The Ohio Pygmy Goat Association will be hosting the 2018 National Pygmy Goat Convention on June 15-17, 2018 at the Wayne County Fairgrounds in Wooster, Ohio. We will be having a Youth Pygmy Goat Show on Friday the 15th and all youth are welcome to show their registered or unregistered pygmy goats in all classes. Our Showmanship Judge will be Jim Wilson of Wilson Family Farm. Mr. Wilson has judged innumerable fairs in Ohio and surrounding states. Our breed  classes will be judged by Kelly Culp of Springwater Farm. Ms. Culp has been an NPGA

licensed Pygmy Goat judge for many years.

Check-in for this show is Thursday June 14 from 4-8pm or Friday June 15 from 8-9am. Check – in is when an exhibitor gives their goats’ class list (s) to the show chair so the goat(s) can be placed in the proper age group. Early entry for check-in can be mailed or emailed but the exhibitor must still check-in with the show chair during those hours. Please send no money for early entries! Pay when you check-in. Early entries save us time by allowing us to write your goats into classes days before the show rather than that morning. They are appreciated but not mandatory.

Prizes will be awarded for some class placements, special Convention place ribbons awarded for first through fifth, and special Convention rosettes for reserve champions and champions. This is an excellent opportunity for ALL youth, 4H NPGA and pygmy goat lovers, to participate in a National Convention setting and meet some of the top breeders and judges of the nation. Friday night at 7pm is our National Champion Challenge where the National Champion Wether, Doe and Buck will be chosen by NPGA judges attending this Convention. We invite the youth show participants to tour the barns that day where the National Champion Contenders are stalled and guess who will be the winners. A card will be provided for this purpose, one per youth show exhibitor. A gift card will be mailed to the winners. You need not attend the 7pm Challenge to win.

Please make plans to attend. Show starts at 9am with Showmanship and check-in before then. Early entries are greatly appreciated and help move the show along in a timely manner. Stalls are available at cost or show off your trailer. For complete information go to npga- and click on the 2018 Convention barn logo to view the website, click on and download the showbills and entry forms.

Any questions or concerns please contact Sheryl Howard at  We

hope to see you there!

2017 Stark County Jr fair Goat Committee Update: Did You Know…

Did you know?

The SC Jr Fair Goat Committee added:

Meat Production Doe class this year. It is a breeding project for meat breed does and they can bring a doe kid or a yearling. We wanted to make sure kids knew the project was able to come to the fair this year before project sign up. As long as they have enrolled in a goat project we will let them bring whatever fits in a class even if they don’t catch all project numbers for 4-H enrollment.

4-H members can also tag meat breed doe kids as a market project; these doe kids would sell in the auction at the fair. Committee thought it might help the kids find a project animal easier, especially if breeders don’t have many buck kids born.

Committee also added a Dairy Goat 24 Hour Milk Production Competition but it is one they sign up for when they complete fair entries.

Contact a SC Jr Fair Goat Committee member for further information.
