Jr. Show Rules 

 

 

 


During the Ohio Beef Expo Jr. Show, all BEST rules are in effect for all exhibitors. 


Things to keep in mind:

1. ALL registered cattle must be registered
solely in the Jr. exhibitor’s name.

2. Exhibitors may reserve stalls for other exhibitors IF they have all of their information, the other exhibitor
is a paid, current member of OCA and has entered and paid for their show entries.

Registration will be available after March 9th for double the entry fee.

 

Registration for the contest is $5.00 per individual and $15.00 per team if registered by March 10, 2017.

Beef Projects going to 2018 Ohio State Fair NEED DNA KITS

DNA KITS available for pick up at Stark County OSUE Office/RG Drage Campus.

Instructions and kits avaialble now to pick up.  You can write in your SC e-tag number on form–Attached are instructions- due Jan 15, 2018 to OSF- no exceptions.

2018 Ohio State Fair Market Beef Information

If you are planning to exhibit market beef projects at the 2018 Ohio State Fair, you will be required to have individual DNA samples taken from each animal that may potentially be entered. These DNA samples must be in the possession of the Ohio State Fair by January 15th, 2018.

Also note that youth showing at any of the BEST sanctioned shows must have EID tags in their calves prior to the first show in which they exhibit. BEST shows prior to the January 15th, 2018 deadline to submit samples to OSF include: Heart of It All, November 25th-26th, 2017, Lima; AGR Holiday Classic, December 9th-10th, 2017, Columbus; and Scarlet & Gray Midwest Showdown, January 6th-7th, 2018, Columbus.

2017 Stark County Cattlemen’s College Scholarship Application

Each year the Stark County Cattlemen’s Association awards three (3) $1000 scholarships to individuals who have excelled in the beef industry and plan to pursue a post high school education in food, agriculture, or environmental sciences.

The Stark Co. Cattlemen’s Association is now taking applications for their 2017 Stark Co. College Scholarship awards. Awards will be given in two categories:

Distinguished Youth Beef Awards – An award of $1,000 each to two (2) individuals who have excelled in the beef industry and plan to pursue a post high school education in any field of study.

Continuing Education Scholarship – An award of $1,000, given to one (1) Stark Co. student taking advanced studies (Masters, PhD., or Dr. of Veterinary Medicine ) in food, agriculture, or environmental sciences.

Application for each of these scholarships is open to any Stark County youth who has exhibited a Beef related project (Market Steer, Beef Breeding, Beef and/or Dairy Beef Feeder, Veal) for a minimum of 3 years at the Stark County Fair.

OSF Market Beef DNA Sample Collection Dates

The Ohio State Fair requires all market beef entered in the 2017 Ohio State Fair to have individual DNA samples taken from each animal that may potentially be entered. These DNA samples must be in the possession of the Ohio State Fair by January 15, 2017.

Attached is a document containing sample collection instructions. Those of you who are not familiar with last year’s procedures may have several questions, but hopefully by having these instructions now will give you a heads up on the requirements. Therefore, please read the attached instructions that will be a part of each sample collection kit.
