Annie’s Project provides education and a
support network to enhance business skills of
women in agriculture. Through the program,
you will gain insight and knowledge about:

2010 Stark County 4-H Enrollment Forms

Just a reminder that March 15, 2010, is the deadline for Stark County 4-H Enrollment Forms.

16th Annual Stark County 4-H Advisory Committee Swiss Steak Dinner

Plans are underway for the 16th Annual 4-H Advisory Committee Swiss Steak fundraiser dinner.  The dinner will be held on Saturday, April 24th from 4:30-7:00 p.m. at the Nimishillen Grange, Easton Street, Louisville.

Help is needed from all clubs with the following:

  1. Advance ticket sales, tickets are now available. Contact Carol or Nancy to get tickets to sell! Return money, unsold tickets and number of tickets sold by Wednesday, April 21.
  2. Advertising by placing posters in various locations to help advertise the dinner.
  3. Raffle donation/ideas:  gift certificates; theme baskets, any store donated items or homemade items.  Everyone loves the raffle!
  4. To help brown steak 8:00 a.m., April 24.
  5. Set tables.
  6. Pie and cake donations – to be delivered to the grange between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
  7. Workers for the dinner: to serve dinners, dishwashers and kitchen help. Two shifts are available 4:15 to 6:00 p.m. and 5:45 to 7:30 p.m.
  8. Clean-up 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Items needed for the dinner:

1 bottle dishwasher liquid
1 gallon vegetable oil
1 box salt
3# coffee
10# sugar
30# flour
1 jar beef bouillon cubes
1 gal vinegar
25 gallon green beans
9 cans 48 oz. of beef broth
2 64-ounce bottles orange drink concentrate
Money donations
Raffle Baskets
Workers
Pies and Cakes

Jenna McNeil & NAAF Fundraiser

JennaJenna McNeil, a Beech Creek 4-H Member, has been diagnosed with Alopecia Areata. You can help by selling wrist bands (bracelets) in her honor. If you are interested in helping to sell bracelets, please call 330-823-6830. We would also be available to visit your club meeting to present a short video about Alopecia Areata. It could be a great health report!

The Beech Creek 4-H Club will be hosting a square dance at the Stark County Fairgrounds on September 25. All proceeds will go to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF). For more details about Jenna and Alopecia Areata please read the attached flyer.

4-H Equestrian Team Organizational Meeting

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Horse project youth interested in participating in the State Horsebowl, Hippology or Judging competitions are invited to attend an organizational meeting on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at Tammy Daily’s house.  We will be explaining the competitions, as well as registering youth for the Stark County Equestrian Team Club and ordering shirts.  It’s recommend that parents of interested youth also attend. Please make sure all entries are in the J. Fair Office by that date!
NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED!

2010 Stark County Quality Assurance Dates

Just a reminder that every Stark County Jr. Fair Member taking a market animal or a lactating animal MUST attend a Quality Assurance Program in 2010. Here are the following dates for Stark County:

2010 Swine Clinic & Tag in Update

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Tag in for swine is Saturday, June 5, 2010 from 8 am – 11 am.
There will be a swine clinic on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, starting at 6:30 pm, at RG Drage.  This clinic will cover feed, showmanship, and will also include Quality Assurance.  You must be present for the entire clinic and sign in to receive credit for quality assurance.

2010 Dairy Feeder & Dairy Market Steer Update

Dairy Market Steer home visits will be on Saturday, March 6, 2010.  Please make sure your steers are where the committee can find them!

Dairy Beef Feeders must be in the possession and care of the junior fair member by April 15, 2010.
Dairy Beef Feeder tag in will be on Saturday, June 5, 2010, from 10 am – Noon.  Please make sure your animals have a halter on them. Also, the animals must be dehorned and castrated before the tag in or they will not be tagged.  If they are not tagged, you will be unable to show at the fair.
